PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead- and cadmium-free glass for decorating and enameling glass or glass-ceramics having a small coefficient of thermal expansion. SOLUTION: The lead- and cadmium-free glass comprises, by weight, following components; 0-10% ofΣ(Li<SB>2</SB>O+Na<SB>2</SB>O+K<SB>2</SB>O),≥0.1% ofΣ(MgO+CaO+SrO), and >65% of SiO<SB>2</SB>. Preferably, the glass is mixed as a glass frit with pigments, fillers and other additives and applied to glass or glass ceramics having a very small coefficient of thermal expansion. Bending strength of more than 70 MPa can be obtained, in particular when coating substrates are made of lithium aluminum silicate glass ceramics. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
