PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a benzimidazolone compound having fluorescence and capable of being used as a red fluorescent material and an organic EL material with red fluorescence, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This benzimidazolone compound is expressed by formula (1). The method for producing the benzimidazolone compound comprises reacting 2,3-dichloro-1,4-naphthoquinone with 5-aminobenzimidazolone in an aprotic polar solvent. Because the benzimidazolone compound has the red fluorescence, the compound is used as the red fluorescent material and suitable for a fluorescent coating, a fluorescent ink, a fluorescent film, etc. Further, the compound is used as the red organic EL material.
