PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crime prevention system and an elevator for efficiently backing up a recorded image while preventing the loss of the recorded image without requiring high performance and a large capacity to be recorded. SOLUTION: The crime prevention system used in the elevator includes a camera 2 for photographing the inside of an elevator car; a first recording device for recording the image photographed by the camera 2 as electronic information; a terminal unit 6 with a second recording device for recording the electronic information recorded in the first recording device 3; a frequency detecting means for detecting the use frequency of the elevator; a transmission time setting means for obtaining the time period when the use frequency of the elevator is low, based on the detection result of the frequency detecting means, and setting the transmission time of the electronic information recorded in the first recording device 3; and a transmitting means for transmitting the electronic information recorded in the first recording device 3 to the second recording device.
