PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide modified wood having an excellent modifying effect such as water resistance, fire resistance, dimensional stability, deterioration resistance and the like imparted to its surface and inside and excellent in leaching resistance of an injected chemical agent, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The modified wood comprises wood subjected to coating and/or impregnation treatment by an organosilicon compound containing at least two H-Si groups. This modified wood is excellent in resistance to water absorption and dimensional stability and develops the leaching preventing effect of the chemical agent injected in wood.
