An information recording medium (100) is provided with a first recording layer (L0 layer) provided with a first calibrating area (103-1) which can record trial information for calibrating power of a laser beam at the time of recording recording information; and a second recording layer (L1 layer) provided with a second calibrating area (103-2) wherein the trial information can be recorded and at least a part of the recording area has a second calibrating area (103-2) facing the first calibrating area. The first calibrating area and the second calibrating area have empty spaces (103U-1, 103U-2) of a prescribed size, respectively, at positions facing each other. In the first calibrating area, the trial information is recorded in a recording area (103R-1) positioned on one side having the empty space at the center, and in the second calibrating area, the trial information is recorded in a recording area (103R-2) positioned on the other side having the empty space at the center.
