<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monochrome image forming apparatus easily upgraded to a color image forming apparatus by which a stable color image is obtained on the market and further restraining the cost of the apparatus itself from rising, and a color image forming apparatus utilizing the monochrome image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with: a monochrome unit 1 including an image forming engine for monochrome 2 forming a monochrome image on a recording medium, and a controller for monochrome 3 controlling the respective parts 2a related to the image forming engine for monochrome 2; and a base unit 6 removably disposed to the monochrome unit 1 and including a base power supply 7 achieving power supply to the monochrome unit 1, and it is provided with a transmission path for monochrome 4 capable of transmitting a control signal for monochrome from the controller for monochrome 3 between the controller for monochrome 3 and the respective parts 2a related to the image forming engine for monochrome 2 so as to contact/separate through a contact/separation means 5. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
