<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure of an electrode catalyst, which is adopted in an electrochemical device using an ionic liquid as an electrolyte and is used for advancing an electrode reaction smoothly. <P>SOLUTION: This structure of the electrode catalyst is adopted in the electrochemical device using the ionic liquid as the electrolyte and is provided with an electrode base material, an electrode catalyst layer and a catalyst's poisoning mitigating layer containing a material for mitigating the poisoning of the electrode catalyst. The catalyst's poisoning mitigating layer is laminated on the electrode catalyst layer and composed of a gel containing the material for mitigating the poisoning of the electrode catalyst.
