PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a select assist device for an automatic transmission having select lever operating force property as required by increasing the degree of freedom in layout with the reduced size of a select lever while actualizing range selecting operation during fail with mechanical connection between the select lever and a select position changer. SOLUTION: The device comprises a second drive command value computing part 32 for computing a second drive command value from a first drive command value in accordance with a drive permission determination result and a third drive command value computing part 33 for computing a third drive command value by adding a vibration amount to the second drive command value in a preset period right after drive prohibition determination.
