PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air cleaner for easily installing a filter element in a filter installation space of a downsized case. SOLUTION: The filter element 3 is a container whose one end side is opened, an engaging member 51 is disposed to an outer face on the other end side so as to be swingable between an expansion position and a folded position, and an engaged member 52 is disposed to an inner face of a case body 10 to be opposed to an outlet opening so that the engaged member can be engaged with the engaging member 51. The filter element 3 is inserted into the filter installation space H formed in the case body 10, from an installation opening in a state where the engaging member 51 swings up to the folded position, one end side opening part 3a of the container is abutted with the inner face of the case body 10 to surround the outlet opening, the engaging member 51 in a state where the engaged member 52 is engaged with the engaging member 51 swings up to the expanded position, and the filter element 3 is pushed against the other end side by the swing to make the opening part 3a of the container be in closely contact with the inner face of the case body 10 to surround the outlet opening.
