PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which can record good images without causing a color shift. SOLUTION: A marker detecting sensor 16 is set in each recording unit 4. The marker detecting sensor 16 detects a marker for setting of a recording start position which is recorded to a recording medium 2 by a recording unit 4a of the uppermost stream side. The recording medium 2 is transferred with a slack between the recording unit 4a of the uppermost stream side and feeding rollers 5A, 5B. At the same time, the recording medium 2 is transferred with the slack between a transfer unit 17d corresponding to a recording unit 4d of the lowest stream side, and introduction rollers 25A, 25B.
