FIELD: chemical industry and technology. ^ SUBSTANCE: method involves at the first step the oxidative pyrolysis of vapor-gas mixture consisting of perchloroethylene and oxygen chosen in the mole ratio = 1:(1.00-1.15) at temperature 500-1500°C. At the second step phosgene is prepared from the prepared gaseous mixture comprising carbon oxide and chlorine. Invention provides synthesis of phosgene from perchloroethylene and oxygen with the high yield.
