OXYGEN-SCAVENGING POLYMER COMPOSITION AND PACKAGING MATERIAL COMPRISED OF THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition that exhibits high-degree processability and sufficient compatibility with a general polymer used in forming a packaging material and has significant deoxygenating capacity solely or as a part of a film or an article used for packaging an oxygen-sensitive product.

SOLUTION: The deoxygenating composition comprises (i) at least a deoxygenating (co)polymer constituted of (a) an ethylene or substituted ethylene unit and (b) an unsubstituted or substituted cyclic olefin compound unit, (ii) a transition metal catalyst, (iii) optionally a photoinitiator, and (iv) optionally a polymer diluent.
