PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system surely and quickly detecting occurrence of an abnormal condition of an object during its movement and giving an alarm. SOLUTION: This mobile body monitoring system is provided with a portable terminal 16, which is attached to a mobile body 11 moving from a predetermined position to a target position and is provided with a positioning function and a built-in power supply, a monitoring condition setting means 27 setting a moving route/area and an allowable stopping time, a position/time detection means detecting a current position/time of the mobile body 11, a moving state determination means 28 comparing the current position/time of the mobile body with the monitoring condition for determining the moving state, and a portable terminal power supply automatic on/off means 32 detecting the portable terminal 16 for automatically turning on/off the power supply 19 in the portable terminal 16.
