PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower a manufacturing cost of a transport container for a radioactive substance by a simple structure without impairing its neutron shielding performance. SOLUTION: This transport container for a radioactive substance comprises a container body 2 having the function of shielding gamma rays and having an internal space 8 for housing the radioactive substance in an immersed state in internal water 11, and internal shield bodies 13 formed out of an inorganic material for moderating neutrons released from the radioactive substance and disposed around the radioactive substance so that the neutrons are moderated and then advanced to the internal water 11.
