PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a maintenance-free ultraviolet lamp capable of adapting itself to severe environments. SOLUTION: The ultraviolet lamp is provided with at least one discharge tube 12, an outer cylinder 14 containing the discharge tube and equipped with a through-hole 15, and a fluid guide means 13 for guiding in fluid of a given temperature into the outer cylinder at a given flow-in pressure higher than the outer pressure. The fluid guided into the outer cylinder by the fluid guide means is drained from the through-hole, and light of wavelengths from the discharge tube is irradiated from the through-hole. It is preferably so structured that, with at least one dispersion cylinder 13 housed in the outer cylinder together with the discharge tube used as the fluid guide means, the fluid supplied from a base end part 17 of the dispersion cylinder is guided into the outer cylinder after it is discharged from an opening 16 provided at the dispersion cylinder so as to cover the discharge tube.
