PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lock mechanism for a sliding door preventing a person from being shut in a storeroom or the like by a mechanism of simple constitution allowing the sliding door to be opened by operating from the inside of the storeroom or the like on the opposite side to an operating part provided at a lock body. SOLUTION: The lock mechanism for the sliding door locks by latching a hook 2 of the lock body 1 provided at the sliding door D, to an edge part of a slit 3 provided in a door frame W. A passing part 4 allowing the hook 2 to pass through in a locked state is formed in the slit 3, and a plate 5 serving as a passing part closing member which latches the hook 2 to the passing part 4 is disposed to be operable from the inside of the storeroom on the opposite side to the operating parts 1a, 6.
