PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat-decomposable resin or resin composition having excellent handleability and stability and nevertheless enabling easy removal of the resin by the breakage of the main chain to low-molecular substances with heat in the absence of an acid. SOLUTION: The heat-decomposable resin contains a repeating unit expressed by formula (I) (R<SB>1</SB>and R<SB>2</SB>are each a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a 1-20C hydrocarbon group, a heterocyclic group, cyano group, nitro group, C(=O)R<SB>7</SB>group, S(O)<SB>p</SB>R<SB>7</SB>group, P(=O)(R<SB>7</SB>)<SB>2</SB>group or M(R<SB>7</SB>)<SB>3</SB>group; R<SB>3</SB>, R<SB>4</SB>and R<SB>5</SB>are each a hydrogen atom or an organic group; R<SB>6</SB>is a halogen atom or a 1-20C hydrocarbon group; X and Y are each an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom; R<SB>7</SB>is a 1-20C hydrocarbon-oxy group, a 1-20C hydrocarbon group, a 1-20C hydrocarbon-thio group or a mono or di-(1-20C hydrocarbon)amino group; M is a silicon atom, a germanium atom, a tin atom or a lead atom; m is 1-3; and n is 0 or an integer of 1-3).
