The device has a guide device which is attached to the vehicle by a holder (6) and can pivot to receive the ladder which is then held displaceable in the holder. The guide device has an articulation joint (7) through which the ladder can be moved from a position against the vehicle into a position on the roof of same. The articulation joint has a cross rod with two bearings for the ladder.
