The invention relates to a method for synthesising cysteine derivatives of formula I, wherein R<SUB>1</SUB> is an alkyl radical, R<SUB>2</SUB> is a radical selected from a group consisting of alkyl or aryl radicals and r<SUB>3</SUB> is a radical selected from a group consisting of alkyl, aryl and arylalkyl radicals. Said invention relates, in particular to a method for synthesising thio carabaesters, in particular N-nenzyloxycarbonyl-S-phenyl-L-casteine methyl ester. The use of the compound of formula I obtainable by the inventive method in the form of an intermediate product for a drug synthesis is also disclosed.
