<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an image from shifting in position owing to distortion of a lens by reducing heat generation in the light beam scanning means of an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A printer control section rotates a polygon motor when confirming that the roller surface temperature T of a pressure roller and a fixing roller is between lower-limit temperature Ta and upper-limit temperature when a print instruction is received. Then when the roller surface temperature reaches predetermined temperature T0 within a designated time, the polygon motor regularly rotates, an LED unit illuminates normally, and a synchronism detection signal XDETP is outputted normally, image forming operation is started.
