PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the occurrence of the color slippage of a read image causable by diversified factors in the case of reading a color original by a 3-line image sensor while carrying the original. SOLUTION: A color original reading apparatus for reading originals one by one using RGB line sensors by a sheet through method includes a characteristic data storage memory 12 for storing characteristic data on the basis of fluctuations of an original moving amount before reading the originals, and when the originals are read one by one on the basis of the characteristic data stored in the memory 12, a line memory 8 is used to delay the read data for matching timing with that of a read data output of a referenced line, and the resulting data are processed, and a line correction circuit 11 corrects the positional deviation of each color caused by fluctuations of the original moving amount generated during the carrying of the originals.
