PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an impact absorbing member capable of securing a predetermined impact absorbing energy by safely buckling, while securing the predetermined impact absorbing quantity by being safely deformed into bellows in the axial direction at the time of impact load being given without causing any deformation in the axial direction even at the time of oblique loading. SOLUTION: A tubular body 10 is not provided with a flange to the outside direction and a cross section shape in at least a part of the axial direction is a closed cross section having a plurality of vertices A-P and at the same time, the tubular body 10 is a part of the side DI, LA of the basic cross section which is composed of the maximum profile ABCDIJKL obtained by connecting a part of the plurality of vertices A-P in a line and the area excluding end points D, I, L, A on these sides is formed after deformation so as to form a recessed groove 14 to the direction of the inside of the tubular body 10.
