PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the inverse breakage of a link chain by a simple structure to achieve the speedup of a link device in a stretching machine of a sheetlike article. SOLUTION: In the stretching machine for stretching the sheetlike article using an endless link device 3 composed of a plurality of equal length link devices 31 formed into a zigzag rule-like shape and the link chains 36 restricting link opening amount provided to the equal length link devices 31, the number of the teeth of a sprocket 6, which contracts the link pitch of the endless link device 3 returned to a sprocket part on an inlet side after the stretching of the sheetlike article 1, is made even and a push-out means 61 of the link chains is provided to each of the bottom parts of the teeth of the sprocket 6 at each of the one tooth skipping positions thereof.
