<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital broadcasting receiver for preventing a situation where decoding is rapidly performed in a picture and the picture is undesiredly abandoned, when a data transfer system is adopted where the plurality of pictures are included in a certain data unit. <P>SOLUTION: A demultiplexer 4 performs processing to detect a PES header. When the PES header is detected, top detection is reported to an AU cutter 5. The AU cutter 5 receives the top detection report, so as to perform processing to detect the top(start code) of an AU. When the second start code is detected, the AU cutter 5 determines that the first AU is accomplished, so as to give a command to a video decoder 6V to decode the AU.
