<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power output device in which overdischarge of a battery is suppressed furthermore. <P>SOLUTION: In an automobile comprising an engine, a motor MG1 and a drive shaft connected with a planetary gear mechanism, a motor MG2 connected with the drive shaft, and a battery capable of exchanging power between the motors MG1 and MG2, when the voltage Vb between the terminals of the battery is lower than a target lower limit voltage Vbmin set to increase as the internal resistance R increases (S160), an output limit correction value ΔWout is set using the voltage Vb between the terminals and a target lower limit voltage Vbmax (S180), an allowable output limit Woutf is set using the output limit Wout of the battery and the output limit correction value ΔWout (S190), and a torque command Tm2* of the motor MG2 is set using the allowable output limit Woutf (S200-S220).
