PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a bubble from entering a nozzle face and ink from adhering the nozzle face by suppressing or preventing scattering of the ink during cleaning of a nozzle. SOLUTION: This ink suction device allows a seal member 6 provided to an upper end of a cap 3 to be brought into intimate contact with a nozzle face of a print head 34 to make an airtight condition in the cap 3 and performs the cleaning by sucking the ink from the nozzle 5 by making the inner section of the cap 3 to be in a negative pressure condition by using a tube pump 4 in the above condition. An ink receptive member 7 is provided in the cap 3 at a portion where the ink ejected by the suction is abutted. An ink receptive face 8 to which the ink is abutted is inclined in the ink ejection direction so that the scattering of the ink can be suppressed or prevented. It is preferable to make the angle of the ink receptive face 8 with respect to the ink ejection direction to be equal to or greater than 5 degrees and not greater than 45 degrees. The ink dropping from an ink receptive member 7 is absorbed by an ink absorption member 9. As a recessed section 10 is formed on a portion where the ink drops, the impregnation and the absorption of the ink can be can be accelerated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
