PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for efficiently enhancing ions. SOLUTION: An ion source includes a temperature sensor. A heating device and the temperature sensor are operably connected to work as a closed feedback loop to provide gas at a constant, predetermined, temperature to an ionization region. The apparatus and method are also applied to a mass spectrometer system having a matrix-based ion source.
