PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a band transporting device capable of paying off and winding a band material such as a production member of different type into a disc shape or spiral shape by making constant the tension generated in the band. SOLUTION: A closed loop is formed from the output signal 19 which is fed from a length measuring encoder 4 to measure the payoff amount of the band material 75 and used as position feedback pulses of the payoff reel driving servo system and the motion command pulses 33 of the drive system which consist of the output of a position sensing encoder 6 in a dancer lever 5a for paying off and sending out the band 75 and used as motion command pulses of the payoff reel driving servo system, whereby the rotation of the payoff reel 1 is synchronized with the sending-out of the band 75 by a feed roller 7, and variation of the dancer lever 5a for paying off is controlled at all times and suppressed.
