The invention relates to a method for isolating N-butylbenzenesulfonamide (NBBS) from biological material, the chemical synthesis of benzenesulfonamide derivatives, and the use of NBBS and benzenesulfonamide derivatives for the treatment of or producing medicaments for the treatment of benign prostate hyperplasia and/or prostate carcinoma and as a basic substance for the development of agents used for treating said diseases.
