<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image authentication device for a vehicle capable of performing authentication processing at high accuracy while realizing enhancement of convenience. <P>SOLUTION: A camera 2 is arranged in an inner mirror and photographs a face of an occupant turing in a vehicle advancement direction from an oblique direction in a cabin. A control part 3 performs the authentication processing for determining whether or not the image data photographed by the camera 2 is equal to the image data of a vehicle user previously registered in a memory 3a and permits control of a vehicle equipment making that it is determined that the both image data are equal to each other as a condition. When the authentication processing is performed, the control part 3 selectively performs front image authentication processing for performing the authentication processing based on image data obtained by photographing the occupant from the front surface and oblique image authentication processing for performing the authentication processing based on the image data obtained by photographing the occupant from the oblique direction according to a kind of control of the vehicle equipments 14-18, i.e., the objects to be permitted. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
