<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital image printing system which can form appropriate printed matter. <P>SOLUTION: The digital image printing system consists of an external device which is equipped with the function of storing digital image data and also connecting to a printer to exchange data between the printer and the device, and the printer which is equipped with the function of connecting to the external device to exchange data between the external device and the printer and prints image data received from the external device. The external device transmits paper sizes of sheets of printing paper, an arrangement layout of digital images, and selected one or more digital image data to the printer. The printer has a paper feeding means with a plurality of trays for storing sheets of paper. When receiving the paper size, arrangement layout and one or more digital image data from the external device, the printer selects the tray of the paper feeding means on the basis of the received paper size, arrangement layout, and longitudinal and lateral sizes of images of the digital image data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
