<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To identify which print engine prints a page of a printing result, in a printer with two or more print engines built in. <P>SOLUTION: The identifying pattern generating sections 224, 324 in each printing unit 200, 300 periodically generate minute dot patterns different for every unit. Synthesis parts 226, 326 overlap the identifying dot patterns supplied from the identifying pattern generating sections 224, 324 on the two value images to be printed which are supplied from a half-tone processing sections 222, 322 and supply these to the print engines 201, 301. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
