PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a speaker grill and manufacturing method thereof capable of improving quality such as surface smoothness, glossiness, feeling of metal, high-grade feeling and the like and promoting reduction of costs. SOLUTION: The speaker grill comprises a sheet metal including a plurality of small-diameter holes formed by punching and a smooth and pure surface formed by removing a top layer, and a protecting coating laminated on a surface of the sheet metal. The manufacturing method of the speaker grill includes: a punching step (STP1) of forming the plurality of small-diameter holes on the surface processed sheet metal; a pressing step (STP2) of forming the sheet metal into a predetermined shape; a top layer removing step (STP3) of removing the top layer to make the surface of the sheet metal smooth and pure; and a surface coating step (STP4) of laminating the protecting coating on the surface of the sheet metal. As the metal sheet, a zinc plated steel plate is appropriate. It is preferable that an acid cleaning method is used in the top layer removing step. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
