<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a line head which carries out formation of a registration mark by a simple constitution, and to provide an image forming apparatus using the line head. <P>SOLUTION: In the line head using a dot light source 63 for image formation which is formed in a glass substrate 62, a light source 73 for registration mark formation is formed by a size different from that of the dot light source 63 for image formation. For example, a light source 73a for registration mark formation is formed narrower in width in a sub scanning direction than the dot light source 63 for image formation.
