PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve accuracy in positioning a fixed scroll 34 while simplifying a device for positioning the fixed scroll 34 in assembling a scroll fluid machine 10. SOLUTION: The positioning device 40 positions the fixed scroll 34 to an assembly 11 with a compressor motor 25 already built therein. In positioning the fixed scroll 34, electric power is supplied to the compressor motor 25 from an inverter 81, and a crankshaft 20 is rotated by the compressor motor 25 to displace a movable scroll 31. In this positioning device 40, the appropriate position of the fixed scroll 34 is indexed by displacing the movable scroll 31, and impact force is applied to the fixed scroll 34 using a striking unit 70 to move the fixed scroll 34 into an appropriate position.
