PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economically-advantageous fuel assembly group for a light water reactor not having any problem in compatibility even if a plurality of MOX fuel assemblies individually having different initial Pu compositions are loaded in the same core, and a core loaded with them. SOLUTION: The fuel assembly group comprises a first fuel assembly and a second fuel assembly having different initial Pu compositions from each other and having the same shape. When the first fuel assembly has an initial Puf rate of X% and an initial PuO<SB>2</SB>enrichment of Y% and the second fuel assembly has an initial Puf rate of X'% and an initial PuO<SB>2</SB>enrichment of Y'%, the rates X, X' and weights W1, W2 are used to define Z by formula, Z=äX/X' W1+(100-X')/(100-X)W2}/(W1+W2). Provided that a Z value is obtained on the conditions of W1=1.0 and W2=0.0 and a Z value is obtained on the conditions of W1=0.0 and W2=1.0, the initial enrichments Y, Y' satisfy the relation of Z2<Y'/Y<Z1 when the larger one and the smaller one of the above two values Z are represented by Z1 and Z2, respectively.
