PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric running board for a vehicle having high convenience to a user of the vehicle. SOLUTION: The electric running board is equipped with a step body which can advance and retreat between a projection position projecting from the side surface of a vehicle body of the vehicle to the outside and a retreated position retreated from the side surface to the inside, a portable machine recognition means 3 which recognizes at least the approaching to and the separating from the vehicle of a portable machine 4 by communicating with the portable machine 4 carried by a user, a running board control drive means 2 advancing/retreating the running board body, and a running board control means 1 controlling the running board drive means 2.
