<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide wire improving operability by forming a buoyancy chamber inside a tip end part liable to hang by the act of the gravity. <P>SOLUTION: This medical guide wire 1 is so formed that the tip end side part 21 of a core material 2 whose tip end side part 21 has a narrow diameter and proximal side part 22 has a thick diameter is inserted into a coil spring body 3 at least having its coil tip part 31 is formed of a radiopaque material, the distal part of the coil spring body 3 and the tip part of the core material 2 are fixed together, and a resin coating 4 is applied around the outer circumference of the coil spring body 3.
