The road safety breakdown panel 2, for enabling on-coming vehicles to notice a broken down vehicle, comprises a flexible sheet of high visibility material 3, the sheet displaying a hazard warning symbol 4 and being provided at or adjacent each corner thereof with attachment elements 10 for attaching the panel to the outside rear of the vehicle. The attachment elements preferably comprise elements of variable length such as elastic cord 12, which pass through an aperture at or adjacent a respective corner and which include a securing element such as a hook 14 at their free ends. The hazard warning symbol is preferably formed from a high visibility material that contrasts with the rest of the panel, with the symbol preferably being a triangle. The panel may include a number of symbols along its length. Also claimed is a method of providing a breakdown hazard warning and a kit of parts.
