<p>The knife with an upset-forged finger guard (18) has the blade (22), the finger guard and the handle (24) constructed in one piece. The knife has several material layers, and this in the form of multi-layered steel. At least one layer has a high hardness which is 54 to 70 HRC, and preferably in the region of 66 HRC. The hardened layer may be hardened steel with a carbon portion of between 0.5 and 2 per cent. The material layer with a higher hardness is installed centrally in a core region. An independent claim is included for a method for the manufacture of a knife with a finger guard which is formed by an upset-forging stage.</p> |
