A body temperature measuring device having a double temperature sensor. The device comprises a sensor housing 1 containing first temperature sensor 2 to measure skin temperature, and a second temperature 4 sensor spaced from, and thermally insulated (using insulation 12) from, the first temperature sensor 2, to measure temperature away from the skin. The housing 1 also contains an analysing unit 5 to calculate body temperature using the difference in the temperatures measured by the two sensors, and a compensation unit 13. The compensation unit 13 comprises a third temperature sensor 6, and corrects the measured body temperature for the transverse flow of heat qsa lost from the sensor housing 1 and thus provides a more accurate temperature reading. Measured values may be wirelessly transmitted to a remote unit. The thermometer device may be used in a safety helmet. |
