A disposable, "needle" containing, assembly is fitted to a device which causes the "needle" to enter the skin to deliver a drug (or other substance) or take a sample. The assembly is "made safe" after actuation, such that the "needle" containing assembly can't be reused and preferably still the "needle" is safely housed in the assembly such that it does not constitute a "sharps" risk. The disposable, "needle" containing, assembly (200) comprises <SL> <LI>i a housing (210) configured to allow operative connection to an actuator device (10); the housing having a channel (230) containing a needle or other skin piercing or skin entering element (220; 224) housed such that on actuation by the device the needle or another skin piercing or skin entering element is, at least in part, temporarily displaced from an end (214) of the housing to penetrate the skin; and <LI>ii a mechanism (240) which causes the assembly to be disabled after use. </SL> |
