The invention relates to an absorbent article (1) which comprises, a substantially impervious back sheet (18), a substantially fluid permeable top sheet (19), an absorbent core region between said top sheet (18) and back sheet (19). Said absorbent core region comprises a first absorbent core (8) and a second absorbent core (12). Said second absorbent core (12) has a longitudinal extent which is 50 to 70% of the longitudinal extent of said first absorbent core (8) and covers 40 to 60% of the face of said first absorbent core (8), and at least 30% of the face and the length of said second absorbent core (12) extend over the longitudinal mid of said first absorbent core (8).
