A wheel assembly to be fitted on a compaction tool, such as a rammer, f or providing wheeled transport of the compaction tool. The compaction tool comprises a foot structure and at least one means of fixation projecting on a top surface of the foot structure. The wheel assembly comprises an attachment member to be fitted on the at least one means of fixation. The wheel assembly also comprises an axle removably attached to the attachment member and having first and second opposite ends. A first wheel is mounted on the first opposite end of the axle and a second wheel is mounted on the second opposite end of the axle.
