The system, comprising a recirculating duct (24) for exhaust gases between the output zone of the i.c. engine exhaust manifold and a feed pipe (16) leading to the inlet manifold distributing air to its cylinders, has a baffle (36) to break the flow of exhaust gases inside the entry zone of the inlet manifold. The obstacle consists of a plate with its basic plane extending parallel to the axis of the feed pipe and having a concave surface turned towards the recirculation duct.
