The method involves determining, before acquisition of a radiography image, position of X-ray field and/or position of compression plate (13) along proximal edge of an image receiver (2) and/or an image receiver zone that is analyzed for determining exposition parameters. The positions are determined based on an angle formed between longitudinal axis of the patient and normal at breast support (3). The zone is considered as containing the radiography image for acquiring, processing, storing, displaying or transmitting the image. An independent claim is also included for a mammography apparatus for implementing imaging method.
