PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately and stably detect a synchronizing signal from an input signal. SOLUTION: The synchronization detection circuit 10 has a horizontal synchronization level detection circuit 11 which detects a horizontal synchronization detection level HL for detecting a horizontal synchronizing signal from a video signal Din, a synchronizing signal extraction circuit 12 which outputs a limit signal D1 generated by extracting only a signal in the limit range ((HL-n)-(HL+m)) set on the basis of the horizontal synchronization detection level HL from the video signal Din, a first filter circuit 13 for outputting the limit signal D1 after removing its high-frequency component, and a synchronization separator circuit 14 for detecting a horizontal synchronizing signal HS from an output signal of the first filter circuit 13.
