PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method of manufacturing a contact material for a vacuum valve, capable of enhancing stability of withstand voltage performance, energizing performance, and interrupting performance, which are required for the contact material for the vacuum valve. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the contact material for the vacuum valve composed of a conductive component, an arc resistant component and an auxiliary component if required includes a raw material manufacturing step S1 to manufacture the raw material of the contact material by a heat treatment, a contact machining step S2 to machine the raw contact material obtained in the raw material manufacturing step S1 to a target shape by using cutting oil, a liquid cleaning step S3 to clean the surface of the machined contact obtained by the contact machining step S2, and a heating and purifying step S4 to heat and purify the contact obtained after cleaning it by the liquid cleaning step S3 in a non-oxidizing atmosphere with a desired heating temperature.
