PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a magnetic tape which can eliminate a tracking error and a defect of the magnetic tape by eliminating the tension irregularity of the magnetic tape in a tape cutting section. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the magnetic tape in which a raw fabric of the magnetic tape is conveyed to a cutting device through an upstream conveyance roller, the magnetic tape raw fabric is cut to a predetermined width by the cutting device, and the cut magnetic tape is taken up through a downstream conveyance roller, a non-rotating long axis member is arranged at least either between the upstream conveyance roller and the cutting device and between the cutting device and the downstream conveyance roller in the perpendicular direction to the conveyance direction of the magnetic tape and in a state of the contacting with the magnetic tape lightly.
