PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air-conditioner for a vehicle capable of eliminating wasteful consumption of electric power by preventing an electric motor from being started in improper environment or being driven at a rotating speed unnecessarily high when the external air is being introduced in the idling stopped condition. SOLUTION: The air-conditioner for the vehicle is equipped with an engine having idling stop function, a compressor 20 to compress refrigerant, the motor 24 to drive the compressor in the idling stopped condition, an evaporator to evaporate the refrigerant and cool the air-conditioning air, an evaporator temperature sensor 39 to sense the temperature at the evaporator outlet, a motor speed controlling means 46 to control the motor rotating speed in accordance with the temperature at the evaporator outlet, and an evaporator temperature correcting means 47 to generate an evaporator outlet temperature by correcting the sensed temperature of the evaporator temperature sensor lower in accordance with the external temperature and the engine cooling water temperature when the external air is being introduced in the idling stopped condition.
